FACE NO 2 FOR 29 FACES

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2 - NO 2

'GERALDINE, THE GREEN DREAMER'
Coloured Pencil on Canvas Paper - by Jez
'Geraldine, the Green Dreamer', took me a little way outside of my comfort zone because I decided to try using coloured pencils on canvas paper.

I was quite surprised and pleased with the result, and because of the 29 Faces challenge to move outside our comfort zone, I have found a new way of drawing and colouring that is very effective.

Here is an enlarged section of the page, giving a close-up of the canvas paper texture:

I like the fact that the 'wells' in the canvas texture remain white and give a glow to the face.  If I want to add a little shading I just need to colour with more pressure in order to fill the 'wells' a little more.

I'm very pleased with Geraldine, and will certainly repeating the process.  I hope one or two of you might be encouraged to try coloured pencil on canvas paper.

  8. I think the greenish hair looks great on your Green Dreamer. I think she's an angel, thinking over the assignment she has just been given. See the pensive look on her face. I also like the canvas paper. Along with the colored pencils it gives a very different effect.
