WEDNESDAY 12 FEBRUARY - FACE NO 12
EMPORER JUSTINIAN I - Jez Coloured Pencil |
Theodora was his consort - not sure if that meant she was his wife - and no wonder she didn't look a happy chick. Not only did he look rather sour and a bit cruel, he had two piercings in each ear and special earrings that seem to stick out on wires, and she had to keep her ears covered up with that awful head-dress!

You've got a great imagination, he is gorgeous with his sticking out earrings.
ReplyDeleteyour sketches of these mosaic people are great, and your commentary is hilarious!! :)
ReplyDeleteHe does look a bit grumpy, I actually rather like his earrings although feel they perhaps not be too practical for everyday wear. In fact I like his cloak ornament as well, He obviously had a strong eye for accessories and was probably less grumpy when out shopping. :)
ReplyDeleteI would not want to make him angry. Great work.
ReplyDeleteGreat faces again this week, that Emperor doesn't look exactly friendly, does he? His poor wife. Perhaps the headdress was to cover up her her cell phone headset? Have a nice evening, Valerie
ReplyDeleteYou are so right he does look like a Mr Grumpy pants doesn't he....poor Theodora....I can relate..lol
ReplyDeleteGood job, even if he doesn't deserve to be revered in one of your paintings!
